Where the prices come from

Crypto is live from Binance without any key; forex, metals and US stocks are live only when OANDA or Alpaca credentials are configured, otherwise they are simulated.
The feed is hybrid: each instrument uses a live source when one is available and a simulated random walk otherwise. The badge next to the symbol tells you which one you are looking at.
| Group | Source | Needs credentials |
|---|---|---|
| Crypto (5 pairs) | Binance | No |
| Forex and metals | OANDA practice | Yes |
| US stocks | Alpaca (IEX) | Yes |
| Anything uncovered | Simulation | — |
The simulation is not a live market
Simulated instruments walk from a base price with realistic volatility, but they are not tied to the real market. Ranks and results built mainly on simulated symbols should be read as practice, not as market skill.
When a live source fails
If a source fails three times in a row it is parked by a circuit breaker: its symbols fall back to simulation and the platform stops polling it until a cooldown (30 seconds, growing to 5 minutes) passes. The desk keeps trading throughout.
The order book is synthetic
The depth ladder in the terminal is generated from the candle range and the mid price. It is a visual aid, not real level-2 data, and no order interacts with it.
